OYEMADE TOPS THE LIST AS QUARTERFINALISTS EMERGE AT THE TEQBALL CHAMPIONSHIP IN ABA



Nigeria's topmost Teqball player and top Seed at the ongoing Nigerian Teqball World Championship Qualifiers holding in Aba, Abia State, Victor Oyemade is leading the list of players that have made it into the quarter finals in the men's singles category.

Oyemade who was Nigeria's sole representative at the just concluded Teqball World Series in Vietnam, playing in the colours of Delta State, beat Pleasant Chima 2-0 (12-2, 12 -3) in his first game and in his two other matches, he overcame Efosa Austin Obisa (12-3, 12-4) and Joshua Musa (12-5, 12-6).

Other male quarter finalists from the first day of the qualifiers Opeyemi Oladipupo (Oyo State), Tobi Mejedi (Abia), Efosa Obisa (Rivers) Olafisoye Dotun (Ondo). Others are, Enebechukwu Mikel (Delta) Andrew Ikoko (Delta) and Khalid Akorede of Abia State 

The quarter finals pairing according to the schedule made available by the Nigerian Teqball Federation shows that Victor Oyemade will square it out with Opeyemi Oladipupo while Olafisoye Dotun will face Andrew Ikoko. Tobi Mejedi and Efosa Obisa will lock horns just as Enebechukwu and Khalid Akorede will try to eliminate each other in the men's singles. 

The women's singles will take off today, Thursday, at the main bowl of the Enyimba International Stadium. Over 60 players drawn from 14 States of the Federation are taking part in the qualifiers which will climax with the finals scheduled to hold on Saturday at the Aba Sports Club.

The Qualifiers will producer Nigeria's flag bearers in 5 categories to the World Teqball Championship which will hold on November 2024. The venue will be announced by the World body FITEQ later this month. The categories include men's and ladies Singles, men's and ladies Double as well as mixed  double. .
