SWAN President Inspects Convention Venue Ahead Of 2024 National Convention

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) is gearing up for its National Convention, scheduled to take place on September 17, 2024, at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba. SWAN President, Isaiah Benjamin, led national executive committee members on an inspection tour of the venue, expressing satisfaction with the facilities.



Benjamin praised the Delta State Government for organizing the ongoing National Youth Games (NYG), emphasizing that the SWAN Convention will focus on the games and provide recommendations for future development.

"Sports development is our top priority," Benjamin said. "The NYG is a platform for discovering young talents, and we must prioritize their growth over winning at all costs."

During a media briefing, Benjamin urged sports journalists to maintain professionalism, emphasizing the importance of objective reporting.

Joining Benjamin on the inspection tour were SWAN national executive committee members, including:

- Ayodeji Ogunsakin (Southwest Vice President)

- Ikemefuna Asika (Southeast Vice President)

- Ahmed Kagana Amshi (Northeast Vice President)

- Kabiru Idris (Northwest Vice President)

- Amusan Olufemi (National Treasurer)

- Augustine Ajayi (National Welfare Secretary)

- Alhaji Idris Malikwa Garu, Alhaji Usman Abbas Shehu, and Mr. Abiodun Ogundipe (National Ex-Officio)

The SWAN National Convention promises to be a pivotal event for Nigerian sports, with key stakeholders gathering to shape the future of sp orts development.
