Gombe FA Chairman Receives Top Honor Award
Gombe State Football Association Chairman, Mr. Philibus Yakubu Sarma, was recently honored for his outstanding contributions to football development in the local government. The recognition came during the Big-League Soccer Cup Competition final match in Kaltungo, where All Stars FC clinched the title after a thrilling penalty shootout against Mairana FC.
The match ended in a goalless draw during regular time, but All Stars FC secured a 3-1 victory in the shootout. Mr. Sarma expressed gratitude for the award, reaffirming his dedication to nurturing grassroots football in the state.
The event also saw generous donations from prominent figures. Hon. Iliya Suleiman, Chairman of Kaltungo Local Government Area, provided items for the teams, excluding the trophy, which was donated by Mr. Sarma himself. Additionally, Hon. Fatima Binta Bello, Chairperson of Shongom LGA, contributed ₦200,000 to All Stars FC and ₦100,000 to Mairana FC.
This recognition and the successful competition highlight the growth of football in Gombe State, thanks to the efforts of individuals like Mr. Sarma.
